Honouring Student Mentorship at the Stratford Festival
The Rose McQueen Legacy Fund furnishes a perpetual annual charitable contribution to the Stratford Festival's Education Department, which supports numerous onsite educational programs for students ranging from kindergarten to post-secondary levels. The Festival's Education Department hosts about 400-450 events per year, including:
Shakespeare workshops affiliated with shows being seen by student groups at the Festival
Post-Show Chats for students with actors, artists, and stage managers employed by the Festival
Tours for elementary and secondary students of the Festival's Wardrobe Warehouse, the Festival's Scene Shop, the Tom Patterson Theatre and the Festival Theatre
Bus funding for school groups to attend the Festival
Overnight Theatre Arts Summer Camps for grades 7-12
Multi-Day Courses for secondary students
Partnership courses with Ontario universities
RISE UP Youth Mentorship Ensemble for students identifying as Indigenous/Black/Persons of Colour, which matches participating students with professional IBPOC artists working in various theatrical capacities
The Stratford Festival's Education Department initiatives are geared toward introducing students to the theatre space, and helping them to discern their future path within the professional performing arts. In keeping with Ms. McQueen's enduring love of Shakespeare and her inspiring influence on Tom Patterson, the Rose McQueen Legacy Fund exists to embody the values Ms. McQueen demonstrated during her lifetime; specifically, by helping to nurture the unique ambitions of all young people mentored by the Stratford Festival's Education Department. Your generous contribution will help to ensure that the essential programs offered by the Stratford Festival's Education Department continue to make a positive impact in the lives of students for years to come.
